2013 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards
I’d like to tell you all about what happened on Friday at the 2013 AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards.
I entered four prints and they all won awards!
I was awarded:
1 Gold
1 Silver Distinction
and
2 Silver awards
I can’t quite express how happy I am that I’ve been recognised in this way. I remember back before I had ever entered a major awards event that I would think, “Wow, can you imagine winning something like that?” I honestly never thought I would pick up a single Silver award, let alone 14 awards including an APPA Gold in the last 18 months.
In the world of art so many artists and their works are either overlooked due to things like limited audience, mediocrity flooding the market, subjectivity and timing, or the artist doesn’t attempt to gain recognition due to self doubt, fear of judgement or even fear of success. That’s why for every image that is recognised, there are thousands that are not. It’s this reason I am fully aware just how much of an honour this is.
I wish to thank everyone who has contacted me in the last 24 hours for their overwhelming support and love. Thank you!
