2013 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards
I’d like to tell you all about what happened on Friday at the 2013 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards.
In fact, I entered four prints and they all won awards!
My results were:
1 Gold
1 Silver Distinction
and
2 Silver awards
Why This Recognition Means So Much to Me
I can’t quite express how happy this recognition makes me. Before I had ever entered a major awards event, I remember thinking, “Wow, can you imagine winning something like that?” However, I honestly never thought I would pick up a single Silver award, let alone 14 awards including an APPA Gold in the last 18 months.
In the art world, so many artists and their works go unnoticed. Limited audiences, mediocrity flooding the market, subjectivity and timing can all play a part. Sometimes artists don’t seek recognition because of self-doubt, fear of judgement or even fear of success. That’s why, for every image that does receive recognition, thousands don’t. It’s this reason I am fully aware just how much of an honour this is.
Above all, I wish to thank everyone who has contacted me in the last 24 hours for their overwhelming support and love. Thank you!
For a wider look at the event, Photo Review’s report includes the category winners and describes the judging.

So, I have to fly, but I wish you all a great day and thank you for reading!
Finally, here are the images and the awards they won:

Josh
Fabulous work Tom. Your Gold image was the highlight on the wedding category. Thoroughly enjoyed the attention, discussion and outcome it deserved.
