Zoe and Josh chose a seriously lovely venue for their wedding. Alsahwa Estate in Palmwoods is beautiful. Even though I don’t eat at weddings anymore, their food looks exceptional. What’s more, the people running it understand how to look after their guests. Add two people who are completely in love and excited about their wedding, and you’ve given a photographer plenty to feel inspired by.
I loved photographing these two because their happiness together made it such a pleasure. They looked incredible, too. After all, there’s something awesome about spending a day with two people who can’t wait to marry each other. Their joy draws you in. Zoe and Josh, you gave me a lot to feel happy about while working on your photographs.
I photographed their engagement shoot only days before, and that was such an inspiring experience that you can bet I was excited about turning up to their wedding. I knew it was going to be great.
Gardens and ceremony spaces at Alsahwa Estate
Alsahwa sits on 30 acres in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, with gardens, palms, lawns and waterways across the property. The restaurant overlooks one of the dams, and there are several places to hold a ceremony. Couples can therefore choose a setting they love and keep their ceremony and reception at the same venue. Having everyone arrive somewhere and stay for the celebration has a lot going for it.
The grounds have some interesting details, too. For example, gardens and a hand-built stone retaining wall surround the Botanica Pavilion. Elsewhere, there are open lawns beside the water and a staircase leading up to the waterside Oasis pavilion. There’s plenty of variety within the estate, which gives it appeal beyond any single view or location.
Food and hospitality at Alsahwa Estate
Alsahwa’s background helps explain its focus on food. It began as a regenerative macadamia farm in the Noosa hinterland before moving to Palmwoods in 2024. Today, the team grows produce and works with local farmers to supply the kitchen. The estate’s restaurant, ēthos, serves Mediterranean-inspired food using ingredients from its gardens and local growers. The menu therefore changes with what’s fresh and available.
Of course, choosing a wedding venue also means choosing the people who’ll look after your friends and family. You want everyone to feel welcome, eat well and enjoy being there. The team at Alsahwa deserve a lot of credit for the warmth they brought to it. They clearly cared, and that made an impression.
There’s also a nice practical benefit to having a wedding at a place with a restaurant: you can go back for a meal. That way, somewhere that means a great deal to you can become somewhere you keep enjoying over the years.
Zoe and Josh’s wedding photographs
Zoe and Josh gave my visit to Alsahwa Estate in Palmwoods its meaning. Above all, their love for each other inspired me. It was a privilege to photograph them at such a happy time in their lives. That feeling is what I hope they’ll always find in these pictures. Thank you both for trusting me with your wedding photographs. You make a beautiful couple, and I’m so pleased I got to be there.
