Coolibah Downs
Some weddings are beautiful to photograph. Others stay with you long after we pack the cameras away. Ronikaa and Benjamin’s wedding at Coolibah Downs Private Estate was both. Culture at Coolibah Downs was certainly on the menu.
The weather was incredibly kind to us. The lovely conditions gave the day a relaxed feeling and allowed the colours of the celebration to come alive against the estate’s beautiful garden setting. For a photographer, it was a dream.
There was colour everywhere, but it was never simply decorative. Every detail felt connected to culture, family and tradition. The result was a celebration that felt vibrant, personal and completely authentic to Ronikaa and Benjamin.
More than anything, there was joy.
It was present in the laughter between friends, the warmth shared by both families and the quiet moments between Ronikaa and Benjamin. Those small, honest moments are always the ones I find myself drawn to. They often pass in seconds, but they can say more about a couple than any carefully arranged photograph ever could.
Two Cultures, One Celebration
One of the most touching parts of the day was seeing how deeply Benjamin has embraced Indian culture. His love for Ronikaa has clearly inspired a genuine passion for her heritage and traditions. He was not simply participating for the sake of the occasion. His enthusiasm came from a place of love, curiosity and respect.
People often describe multicultural weddings as East meeting West, but this felt like something richer. Ronikaa and Benjamin honoured both cultures without diminishing either one. They celebrated each tradition openly and created something new that belonged entirely to them.
That is one of the things I love most about weddings. Traditions can carry generations of meaning, yet every couple finds a way to make them their own. Customs vary between families and communities, but the symbolism is beautiful. Marriage is not simply a destination. It’s a journey that two people choose to walk together for life.
Photographing this wedding meant moving between the grand and the intimate, repeatedly. There was the incredible colour and energy of the traditions, followed by fleeting glances, spontaneous laughter and gentle moments of affection. Together, they told the full story of the day.
I’m also incredibly grateful to Matè and every member of staff who made me feel so welcome during my stay. Their smiles, kindness and hospitality helped everyone feel at home and allowed me to focus completely on documenting a very happy group of people.
Ronikaa and Benjamin’s wedding was joyful, meaningful and filled with colour. More importantly, it was a beautiful example of what can happen when two people bring their cultures together with openness, respect and love.
