Brisbane is the Perfect Place for Wedding Photography

I’ve now been a Brisbane Wedding Photographer for 12 years. As someone who was also born here I can’t help but be passionate about my hometown. It really is a lovely place to live and create. Brisbane is the perfect place for wedding photography!

Photographs are such special souvenirs of a wedding day, capturing those moments to be treasured forever. A bride and groom often want to see their most beautiful and happiest selves against colourful and dramatic backgrounds which is why Brisbane City is well worth considering as a location for your happiest of days.

Brisbane is Australia’s third largest city and the capital of Queensland. The winters are mild, seldom falling below ten degrees Celsius, which means tropical trees, plants and flowers are blooming nearly all year round. Add to this its distinctive architecture and stunning locations, and it is not hard to see what Brisbane is one of Australia’s most desirable wedding locations. Above all is the spirit, a city teeming with suppliers who go out of their way to ensure couples have the time of their lives.

The following guide offers a few examples of why Brisbane is the perfect place for wedding photography.

Brisbane City Hall Wedding Photos

At Ann Street in the heart of Brisbane is City Hall, where you can find the Museum of Brisbane. The towering pillars of its classical portico make a stunning yet traditional backdrop for wedding photographs.

Brisbane River Wedding Photos

Since the Brisbane River winds its way through the heart of the city, no bridal couple is too far away from the famous Eagle Street Pier and Story Bridge Backdrop.

GOMA Wedding Photos

Couples seeking a modernistic backdrop will gain photographic inspiration from the plaza in front of Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art, in Stanley Place. With its panes of glass rising dramatically from ground level, it is the location of choice for many bridal couples. An alternative is the extraordinary and futuristic Queensland Performing Arts Centre at South Bank. Its stepped white formations gleaming in the sunlight will add a unique twist to Brisbane wedding photographs.

Kangaroo Point Wedding Photos

Cross the Story Bridge to Kangaroo Point, a formation of ancient lava cliffs. Not only is this a place of beauty, Brisbane wedding photographers capture dramatic images when the sun is setting and the lights of the soaring Brisbane business district twinkle in the background. Bridal couples seem to float on water as they are photographed with river, sky, and city in the background.

Brisbane Gardens Wedding Photos

Another alternative is the City Botanic Gardens, which is Brisbane’s oldest park with its lush tropical plants, bamboo grove, weeping fig avenue, and ornamental lily ponds. The Gardens offer so much variety for wedding photography and there isn’t enough time in one afternoon to fully explore all the gardens have to offer.

Other Locations for Wedding Photos

Other areas I love to work in Brisbane are at the Powerhouse, Howard Smith Wharves, New Farm Park, Roma Street Parklands, The Mall, QUT, University of Queensland and Teneriffe. I also love photographing in carparks, alleyways, intersections and pretty much wherever else couples are keen to explore.

These locations are but a few of the many that Brisbane offers. Remember, the wedding is for a day; the photographs are forever. Oh yeah, and Brisbane is the perfect place for wedding photography 🙂
